The final Celebration of the Female Form exhibition saw Woody’s Studio contribute the cheeky work of Centre Of Attention. Soft pastel and measuring 795 x 550mm, the work is pure experimentation with warm to hot saturations along with composition and perspective: A risk for risk’s sake to deliberately learn from. Who she is, why she is and where she is headed are for the viewer’s own interpretations. You create the story for her. Might be an idea to start with a hot context …
The exhibition opened at Jugglers Art Space (Fortitude Valley, Brisbane) with a full house of curvaceous enthusiasm. Fantastic to see so many people attend, but unfortunate that I spilled a good shiraz down my shirt. I’ll never get that mouthful back! Hence, my awkward pose next to my work.
Many thanks to fan, Michelle, for coming along and splashing white wine over my shiraz misdemeanour. And it worked. Shirt saved.
There was plenty raised for the Brisbane Domestic Violence Service, over the course of the exhibition (Nov. 10 – 21, 2017) and all the talented artists who participated should be congratulated for their contributions. The biggest thanks of all are to Vanessa Swift and her team, who organised a fitting farewell to this worthy feminine endeavour.
