Kenilworth ArtsFest 2018 and a tormenting encroachment …

Well … participating in Kenilworth ArtsFest 2018 for the first time has been met with a lot of ups and downs. Going from a very budgetary frame job to a contemporary and modern finish was definitely an up! ‘1971’ (more information about this artwork will be available shortly) is all the more better for the gee-up and it is with thanks again to Lou Jaeger and Caloundra Art & Framing for their assistance and craftmanship.

Unfortunately, the down will be not being able to attend the days of the ArtsFest. Contracting a virus over two months ago has now been met with further challenges to conquer. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, I will recover, but not in time to enjoy this maiden voyage.

YOU, though, can take the voyage! Please, take the chance to have a little road trip to Kenilworth! ArtsFest will run from this evening, Friday 28 September, until the end of Monday 1 October. Outside the extraordinary artworks on display is the famous (or infamous???) Kenilworth Country Bakery, outstanding weatherboard homes, churches, dinkum dunnies and roaming countryside which appears to had some rain on it!

Go on! Do it for Kenilworth! Do it for all the artists! Have a squizz! Kenilworth ArtsFest 2018!

Cairns Indigenous Art Fair 2018

… whilst other life stuffs have occupied me of late, the chance to be involved (albeit in a pleb capacity) in the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) again has sprung and I find myself bouncing my way up to Australia’s wonderous warm tropics during the winter!

Plenty to see and experience, so if you do manage to visit Cairns in the next week, do pop-in and explore CIAF 2018!

As for other news, participating in one, possibly two exhibitions in the next couple of months. Followed with Woody and the Schlock Gang characters set launched to the public! May well assist in what my comic strip is all about … well, possibly not. But that may well be the point! Lots to do …

‘Actuality’ actually finds a home.

Another successful participation exercise in the Immanuel Arts Festival has come to a close. The work was unsold, however finds a new home way down south, in a little place called Hobart, Tasmania. The power of today’s social media, I guess. Much thanks to the model, Krisztina, for the tireless efforts in getting this pose right. Bring on Immanuel Arts Festival 2019 …

2018 Immanuel Arts Festival

Participating once again in the Sunshine Coast’s largest arts festival, held at the Immanuel Lutheran College, Buderim, from May 24 – 27, 2018. Intense time to complete this soft pastel work by this Sunday’s afternoon deadline! My kingdom for a proper art studio! Or a decent easel! My knees are killing me!

Quietly pushin’ on …

A lull of magnitude nine (amount of weeks in-between!) in blog proceedings, however stuff has been a-happenin’ here at Woody’s Studio.

Participating once again in the Immanuel Arts Festival for 2018, which is held in late May, followed with entering into the Marie Ellis OAM Prize for Drawing to have a chance of being a finalist in August.

Home run! Caricatures for another wedding! This time for a lovely couple in Canada who just love their baseball team of the Toronto Blue Jays. A portrait commission has also come my way, where I can utilise my continual practise with soft pastels.

The next quirky installment of Woody and the Schlock Gang is to be released in the next week or so, and soon, a chance to find out what each of the characters are about – in the most unlikely of places around the Sunshine Coast! Keep those homo sapien eyes peeled …

Curves and Community

Once again, I am participating in the tremendous worthwhile exhibition, Celebration of the Female Form. Held in Jugglers Art Space, Fortitude Valley, artists of many backgrounds get their chance to express their skills of what the female form is through their eyes.

This is a fundraising event for The Brisbane Domestic Violence Service, organised from the unbelievable efforts of Vanessa Swift and her team. Voyeurism can do good! Succumb to your intrigue and come along! Exhibition runs from 10 – 21 November, 2017. More details can be found at the following links

Please be aware this is a R18+ event. Things may get a bit naughty!

The state of a yo-yo, yo …

What has eventuated the last few weeks? A completion of a caricature for one thing. A revamp underway on the online presence of Woody’s Studio. Completing steward duties for Architects of Air’s Arboria Luminarium, as part of the Horizon Festival held here, on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland, Australia). Incredible colour sensory overload. Unfortunately, this has resulted in contracting a virus. Joy. Oh, well, fortis in arduis.

A start been made on work for the upcoming Celebration of the Female Form exhibition, which may, or may not be a tad cheeky …

Amongst all this, this creative mind is one of a yo-yo state … the end of the year is approaching and decisions need to made when ‘drifty’ has come in to roost. Does that make sense?
